Man Accused Of Killing Estranged Wife Found Unresponsive In His Home

Fotis Dulos, the father of five accused of murdering his estranged wife, was found unconscious inside his Connecticut home on the same day that his bond was likely to be revoked.

Police went to his home to perform a well-being check after he failed to show up for his bond hearing. When officers arrived they found him sitting in his in "medical distress." Sources told WFSB-TV that Dulos attempted to commit suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.

They began performing CPR, but he was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. His death was widely reported, and officials notified his family but paramedics detected a faint pulse as he was being transported to the hospital, where he is being treated for carbon monoxide poisoning.

Dulos was arrested on murder charges nearly eight months after his wife, Jennifer, went missing back in May. Fotis and Jennifer were in the middle of a contentious custody battle over their five children.

Her body has not been found, but authorities had enough evidence to bring charges of capital murder, murder, and kidnapping against Dulos. The arrest affidavit was 35-pages long and included DNA evidence and described surveillance footage allegedly showing Dulos disposing of trash bags, which reportedly contained a bloody poncho. His former girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, was also was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Dulos was freed on a $6 million bond but was due on court on Tuesday (January 28) to address his release. According to the Hartford Courant, the insurance company that was backing his bond had concerns over the collateral, and it was likely that Dulos' bond was going to be revoked.
