The Texas Rangers put closer Jose Leclerc on the 45-day injured list with a muscle tear in his right shoulder, making it doubtful he would pitch again in the 60-game 2020 schedule.
Leclerc warmed up in the eighth inning Wednesday, but did not enter the game after complaining of shoulder tightness. He will receive an injection and be shutdown for four weeks before throwing again.
The Rangers are adding Jimmy Herget to the pitching staff. They also called up first baseman Greg Bird from the taxi squad and sent Ronald Guzman down. The Rangers will open a trip tonight in San Francisco after having yesterday off.
