NBA Owner Mark Cuban Offers Helping Hand To Former NBA Player Delonte West

Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban has offered a helping hand to former NBA player Delonte West. Cuban reportedly met up with West at a nearby gas station in Texas on Monday. He is now offering to pay for any medical or rehabilitation services for the former Cleveland Cavalier.

West is best known for the time he spent playing alongside LeBron James in Cleveland. He played a total of nine seasons in the NBA before ending his career with Cuban's Dallas Mavericks in 2012

During and after his basketball career, West battled with intense medical issues. In an interview with The Washington Post, West revealed that he had been diagnosed as bipolar in 2008.

“I am bipolar — just like the rest of us in the world,” he said.

“So bipolar is defined as something sad happens, you’re sad. Something happy happens, you’re happy. I think pretty much everyone in the world is like that. Now there’s different levels. How long do you stay sad? How does it affect your behavior? How do you handle these emotions?”

He has also opened up about his bouts with depression and severe stress connected to a weapons charge.

"I was dealing with so much guilt," he said.

"I wasn't processing things right. I was under the impression that I was going to do nine years minimum. Everything I've ever dreamed of, the sweat and tears of what I worked for would all be wiped away."

More recently, he has reportedly dealt with addiction and been without shelter. Members of his family have asked that he enter a rehabilitation facility. With the help of Cuban, West could possibly head in the right direction.

Neither Cuban nor West has publicly commented on the matter since Monday.
