Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will miss at least one game after undergoing an emergency appendectomy, head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters on Wednesday (November 12).
"Marvin, two nights ago, had surgery, appendicitis, so he's going to be out," Gannon said via NFL.com.
The Cardinals will host the NFC West Division rival San Francisco 49ers on Sunday (November 16), having previously lost their first of two annual matchups, 16-15, in Week 3. Gannon was non-committal when addressing Harrison's long-term status, responding, "We'll see," when asked if the inactivity was a one-week thing.
Harrison, who was selected by the Cardinals at No. 4 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, has shown signs of his expected potential during his second NFL season, scoring a touchdown in each of his last two games, which included a career-best seven catches for 96 yards and one score in a 27-17 win against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. The former Ohio State standout is currently second on the Cardinals with 34 receptions for 525 yards and four touchdowns in 2025, trailing only Pro Bowl tight end Trey McBride.
Arizona is already thin at the wide receiver position, having lost Zay Jones to a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 10. The Cardinals also placed quarterback Kyler Murray on injured reserve earlier this month for a foot injury he sustained in Week 5.
