Skier Elizabeth Swaney has been making headlines this Olympics for her skiing style, or really lack thereof. Elizabeth is a 33 year old from Oakland California skiing for Hungary. The Harvard graduate was able to snake her way into the Olympics by first skiing for a country that was not nearly as competitive as the United States and second by attending and competing in enough international events. The skier's objective is to get down the halfpipe as cleanly as possible. By doing so she moved up the ranks over those that fell during their runs. The sport is relatively new making the field of athletes not terribly deep. Thanks to here scheming the system, a little luck, and a quota set on how many athletes a country could bring for the event Elizabeth Swaney was able to capture her Olympic dream. Check out her run below.
