Kyle, Texas, is planning the biggest gathering of Kyles to ever happen.
The Central Texas city wants to break the world record for the most people with the same name in the same place at one time at the the annual Kyle Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival on Labor Day weekend at Lake Kyle.
“We are so excited to host Kyle Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival once again and bring back the Guinness World record attempt for the most Kyles in one place,” Special Events Coordinator Sarah Watson said. “We have high hopes that 2021 will be the record-breaking year for the Gathering of the Kyles.”
While there is no Kyle-specific world record, the current Guinness World Record for the largest same name gathering was set in 2017 when 2,325 people with the first name Ivan met in Kupres, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
2021 is the fourth year Kyle, Texas, is attempting to break the world record.
“This tradition has been a favorite for several years, and we might come closer than ever before to breaking the record with the group KyleKon officially joining us in our attempt this year,” Gathering of the Kyle Organizer and Kyle Library Director Paul Phelan said.
The city is inviting Kyles across the world to the air balloon festival, where they are given admission with a photo ID.
