Did you travel anywhere overseas in 2024?

While Texans likely ventured across the globe this year, there was one destination favored by the majority.

Texas travelers seeking diverse cultural experiences, unique sightseeing opportunities, and new experiences, packed their bags and headed to this foreign city more than any other location in the world.

According to a press release featuring data compiled by Nomad, the top travel destination for Texans in 2024 was the United Kingdom. Other popular countries Americans traveled to this year include Japan, Canada, and Indonesia. While most U.S. residents traveled to the four aforementioned locations, South Dakotans existed as the unexpected outlier with Italy as their top travel destination for 2024.

Nomad eSIM COO Eric Morhenn commented on the data, noting that "leisure and business travel trends" were both accounted for when searching for each state's top travel destination.

"The findings may surprise some, as Americans are often associated with choosing warmer, tropical destinations like the Caribbean for vacations. However, this data reflects both leisure and business travel trends.”

Here's how Nomad discovered Americans' most traveled to locations of 2024:

"Nomad analyzed data from over 50,000 customers between January and November 2024 to identify the most popular international travel destinations for Americans. State data was collected by evaluating sales records to determine customers' purchase locations, while eSIM activation data was used to identify their travel destinations."
